Economic Development

Economic development in Indian Country is vital, but it presents unique legal challenges. If development is going to succeed, the applicable legal structures must be clear, workable, and in place from the beginning; but the mechanisms that typically underpin development outside Indian Country may not work on Indian lands.

Our experience gives us the ability to deal effectively with those problems. For a quarter century, we have worked with developers and tribes on projects ranging from small convenience stores and car washes to world-class resorts, golf courses, and retail complexes. We have created security structures that work. We have negotiated financing packages that fit in a tribal context. And we have drafted and implemented, ordinances and codes of law that provide evenhanded protection both to developers and to the public interest.

As with all the work we do, our size permits us to tailor our legal work to the particular needs of our clients, and our experience gives us the strength to deliver proven legal products on time and on budget.
